Our New Construction Process

When you invest in a Complete Backyard project, you get to help decide what shapes, features and colors go into your dream backyard.  You can make your project as unique as you want.  With your Custom Design you will help make your families dreams come true!  Enjoying your Complete Backyard project will easily be become your family and friend’s favorite pastime.

Step 1: Design & Pricing

Getting Started: After we have your contact by phone or email one of our top design consultants will reach out to you to gather information about your custom backyard project. At this point, we ask what it is you are wanting in your backyard project; pool/spa/outdoor living, as well as a series of other questions so that our designers are aware of your expectations. Two things that we need before our designers come to your property are a Dig Tess and a Legible Copy of the Property Survey.

Design Consultation: We want to get to know you better while we design your pool! This process involves several in-person consultations with your personal Pool Designer. Make sure the entire family is there because we like all involved to have the opportunity to tell us about their wishes and visions for your custom backyard project. We'll discuss your budget and take measurements and lots of pictures of the site for your future project.

In-Office Second Appointment: At this appointment, your designer brings your ideas to life. With 3D Project Design Software, you can virtually walk through your new outdoor space, feeling like you are fully immersed in the project.

You will also be asked to choose your materials. Our designers help by giving you the opportunity to touch, feel, and match the materials. Our showroom is filled with the newest styles of pavers, travertine, and glass tile. We also carry regular tile, ledgestone, and a large selection of finishes for the inside of your pool. Your designer will help to guide you every step of the way.

Step 2: Drafting & Permitting

Drafting/Permit Process: The 3D Schematic Design you see during the design phase gives the general idea for a project. The Drafter focuses and refines it and construction documents fill in all the details. The final set of drawings will specify every element of the project, from the structure to the color choices. Construction Documents serve two purposes: to apply for (and receive) building permits from the city or other local authority and to construct the project. Here is every step you will encounter during the drafting and permit process:

  • Dig tess
  • Drafting
  • Engineering (if applicable)
  • Completed construction plans
  • Utilities
  • Permitting by the city
  • Pre-construction meeting (required)
  • Tentative dig date
